Obituary Condolences

MANCHESTER -- Funeral services for Dorothy Hinkley Treat were held Tuesday morning, Oct. 31, at the East Dorset Congregational Church. The Rev. Lawrence Jenney conducted the service. Music for the service was under the direction of organist Marjorie Johnson, who led the congregation in the singing of the hymns “In The Garden,” and “In The Bulb There Is A Flower.” The Rev. Jenney offered the lessons and words from scripture. The Rev. Jenney also read the poem entitled “After The Winter,” which preceded the presentation of flowers. Dorothy’s grandchildren offered a time of reflection and words of remembrance. The song “Never Walk Alone” was sung by Dorothy’s granddaughter, Molly McGinty. Following the benediction, interment services were held in the family lot in Dellwood cemetery in Manchester where The Rev. Jenney offered burial rites and committal prayers. Serving as pallbearers were Tom, Rob and Dan Treat and Geoffrey Goff, Justin Wagner and Peter Giger. A time of fellowship and refreshments were held following the service at the home of Dorothy’s daughter and son-in-law Betty Jean and Jerry Goff. The Order of The Eastern Star in Manchester conducted their prayer service during visiting hours on Monday evening, Oct. 30.

Dorothy Hinkley Treat, a resident of Treat Hill Road in Manchester, died Friday, Oct. 27, 2006, at Rutland Regional Medical Center in Rutland.
