Dorothy C. Hurley

1927-2013 Dorothy C. Hurley, 85, a longtime resident of Airport Road in Bennington died Monday October 28, 2013 at the Crescent Manor Nursing Home in Bennington following a brief illness. She was born at the family home in North Bennington December 18, 1927. She was the daughter of the late Grace (Hathaway) Cherbonneau and Chester Cherbonneau. She received her education in North Bennington and was a 1946 graduate of North Bennington High School. On June 28, 1947 Dorothy married Frank Hurley at the family home in North Bennington. In earlier years Dorothy was employed at the EZ Mill and Thomson Manufacturing. She later worked as a nurse's aid at the Bennington Convalescent Center from which she retired. She enjoyed reading and camping with her family. She also enjoyed shopping especially window shopping. Her family was her main interest. Survivors include her husband Frank Hurley of Bennington, her children Helen Breese of Pownal, VT, Elaine Holts of Sumter, South Carolina, John Hurley (Carole), Steve Hurley (Michele), James Hurley, and Barbara Fritz (Eric) all of Bennington; Ten grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was pre-deceased by a son Frank "Skippy" Hurley, a grandson, Matthew Ellis, a brother Donald Cherbonneau and two son in laws Harry Breese and Joseph Holts. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held from the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Thursday October 31, 2013 at 11:00 a.m with Rev. Penny Rich Smith officiating. The burial will take place in the family lot in Grandview Cemetery in North Bennington. Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Wednesday October 30 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. If friends desire contributions in memory of Dorothy C. Hurley may be made to the Bennington Rescue Squad through the office of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home 628 Main St. Bennington, VT 05201
