NORTH POWNAL -- Dorothy Kokoras Morse, 63, wife of Joseph Morse, a resident of North Pownal, died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2005, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center following a long illness.

Born in St. Albans Sept. 21, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Rose Marie “Sim” (Guerrette) Kokoras. She received her education in the Bennington schools and was a graduate of the former Bennington Catholic High School. Dorothy later attended vocational seamstress school in Peabody, Mass.

Mr. and Mrs. Morse were married Aug. 7, 1965, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in North Pownal.

In earlier years, Dorothy had been employed at the former Pownal Tannery. She later worked as a nanny at various homes in the area.

Dorothy was an excellent seamstress. She also enjoyed gardening, walking and all types of animals. Her family, especially her grandchildren, were her main interest.

Survivors include her husband, Joseph Morse of North Pownal; two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Pam Morse of Wallingford and Scott and Wendy Morse of Pownal; a daughter and son-in-law, Marie and Matthew Goodermote of North Adams; five grandchildren, Issac Morse, Jessica Poro, Abbie Morse, Jennifer Matthews and Emily Colvin; a brother, Nicholas Charles Kokoras of Bennington; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral will be held from the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Friday, Jan. 14, 2005, at 12:45 p.m. with a prayer and from Our Lady of Lourdes Church in North Pownal at 1:30 p.m. where the liturgy of Christian death and burial will be offered.

Friends may call at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Friday from noon until the time of the prayer service when the family will be in attendance.

Burial will take place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery.
