Dorothy Marckres 1927 - 2011 NEWPORT Dottie Mae Marckres, of Pearce, Ariz., passed away peacefully on July 2, 2011, after a long battle with lung disease. She was born in Newport on Jan. 4, 1927, and was adopted by Lila Hager Rollins. She spent her early years in Newport, going through the school system and graduating from high school in the class of 1945. After graduation, she worked at Sears, and later as a telephone operator. On May, 25, 1943, she married Gerald K. Marckres and they spent their married years in Craftsbury, Benson, and Arlington. Dottie worked 27 years at Ekwanok Country Club in Manchester as office manager. Their retirement years were spent in Cambridge, N.Y., Seabring, Fla., Lake Placid, Fla., and finally in Pearce, Ariz. Dorothy is survived by her husband, Gerald, of Pearce. They had just celebrated their 65th anniversary. She leaves a son, Richard Marckres, and his wife, Alice, of Enosburg Falls; a daughter, Gail Bissonnette of Pearce, Ariz.; a stepsister, Barbara Ridlon of Quincy, Mass.; grandchildren, Gerald (Gary) Marckres and wife, Melody, and great-grandchildren, Morgan, Mason and Emerson; granddaughter, Jennifer Melton and husband, Geoff, and great-grandchildren, Avery and Oliver; granddaughter, Kimberly Mears, and great-grandchildren, Austin and Tyler; grandson Allan Mears of Benson, Ariz.; granddaughter Tara McKirryher and great-granddaughter, Sophia. Dottie was an avid reader and excelled in county cross-stitch. FUNERAL NOTICE: Services will be held on Sept. 17, 2011, at Evergreen Cemetery in Arlington at 11 a.m.
