BENNINGTON -- Dorothy Mattison, 90, a longtime resident of Manchester, died Tuesday evening, March 17, 2004 at Crescent Manor Care Center in Bennington. She was born in Syracuse, N.Y. the daughter of Stefan and Kataryna (Czebiniak) Sembratowicz on April 11, 1917. She attended Syracuse schools and helped raise her brothers and sisters.

She married Clyde Mattison Aug. 30, 1947, Mr. Mattison died in 1996. During the war Dorothy worked at Remington Rand, manufacturing rifles. Dorothy was a very devoted and loving mother and grandmother. She loved to read and travel. She was a superb cook and was especially known for her baking. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her sons and their spouses, Cosmo and Gertrude D’Eredita of East Dorset, Richard and Patricia D’Eredita of Moody, Maine, David Mattison and Robert Mattison both of Manchester; her daughters, Theresa and Paul of West Islip, N.Y., Mary and Brian Sallisky of Arlington, and Cathy Mattison of Albany, Calif.; also 14 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brothers, John and Nicholas Sembrat, and sisters, Stephanie Bovey and Ethel Figie; Also two grandchildren, Richard D’Eredita Jr. and Cheryl D’Eredita Walker.

A memorial service will be held on Friday Feb. 20, 11 a.m. at Saint Paul’s Church in Manchester. The pastor of the church Father John Whalen will officiate. Following the service all are invited to the Arlington American Legion for a time of fellowship and refreshment. Dorothy’s cremated remains will be committed to the earth next to her husband in the Dellwood Cemetery in the springtime.
