Dorothy L. Plog 1928-2010 BENNINGTON Mrs. Dorothy L. Plog, 82, a resident of Wright's Road in Schaghticoke, N.Y. passed away peacefully Monday, November 22, 2010 at the Bennington Health and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Bennington, Vt. Nov. 16, 1928, the daughter of the late Elwood and Verna Ely Russell. Dorothy received her education in Bennington and was a 1946 graduate of Bennington High School. At the age of 13, Dorothy began her working career in retail at Fishman's in Bennington, Vt. and later worked at K-Mart in Greenwich, N.Y. from which she retired in 1991. She was known as "The K-Mart Lady" and was noted for her wonderful smile. Dorothy married James F. Plog on October 25, 1947 in Bennington. They renewed their vows on their 50th anniversary at Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Church in Bennington. She enjoyed knitting, embroidery, sewing, cooking and collecting Angels. She loved the autumn foliage, all kinds of flowers, especially sunflowers. Her family was her main interest. Survivors include her husband, James F. Plog of Schaghticoke, N.Y.; their children, James F. Plog Jr. (Dianne) of Green Bay, Wis., Paula A. Plog of Greenwich, N.Y., and Keith M. Plog (Donna) of Greenwich, N.Y.; five grandchildren, Saara C. Roberts of Bennington, Amanda K. Szczepkowski (Brett) of Lansingburgh, N.Y., Kristine E. Plog of Delmar, N.Y., Rebecca L. Plog of Delmar, N.Y. and Myles B. Plog of Sand Lake, N.Y.; four great grandchildren, Keegan, Carter, Cameryn and Landon. Three sisters, Phyllis Cornell (Pete) of Bennington, Patty Lake of Bennington and Nancy West of Sarasota, Fla.; a brother, Elwood Russell Jr. (Sue), of Maricopa, Ariz., and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a sister, Mary Grover, and a brother, Francis Ely. Friends may call at the MAHAR AND SON FUNERAL HOME, 628 Main Street, Bennington, VT on Sunday, November 28th from 2 to 5 p.m. when the family will be in attendance. The funeral will be held from the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Monday, November 29, 2010 at 11 a.m. with Rev. William Kelley, Pastor of Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales, officiating. The burial will follow at the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, N.Y. on Monday at 1:30 p.m. If friends desire contributions in memory of Dorothy L.
