Dorothy R. Pudvar 1912-2011 POWNAL Dorothy R. Pudvar, 98, widow of Richard L. Pudvar, a former resident of Pine Hollow, Pownal, died Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at Fairwinds Community Care Home in North Bennington. Born in Frenchville, Pa., June 27, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Anna Guenot Rougeux. Mrs. Pudvar received her education in the Karthaus, Pennsylvania schools and received her teaching degree from Lock Haven Teachers College in Pennsylvania. An elementary school teacher for many years, she first was employed in Pennsylvania and later in the Pownal school. An active member of the Pownal community for many years, Mrs. Pudvar was instrumental in the development of the Solomon-Wright Library in Pownal. Survivors include six children and their spouses, Robert and Sherry Pudvar, Anne Marie and Walter Ogden, Susan and Geoffrey Dutton, Jane and Joe Conway, Bill & Marie Pudvar, and John and Sharyn Pudvar; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Carver, a sister-in-law, Lois Rougeux and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband Mrs. Pudvar was predeceased by a daughter, Linda Pudvar Williams, a grandson, Robert N. Pudvar and by three brothers and a sister. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in North Pownal on Friday, May 6, 2011 at 11 a.m. with Rev. William Kelly, c.s.c., pastor, officiating. Friends may call at the church Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will take place in the family lot in Oak Hill Cemetery, Pownal. Should friends desire memorial contributions in Dorothy R. Pudvar's memory may be made to either the Solomon Wright Library or Our Lady of Lourdes Church through the office of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main Street, Bennington, VT 05201.
