Dorothy Reginbald Obituary
Dorothy Reginbald

1922 - 2014 AMSTERDAM Dorothy I. Reginbald, 92, died peacefully on Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2014 at St. Mary's Hospital. Born in Amsterdam on Sept. 22, 1922, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Albert and Anna Kosiba Serafin. In 1950 she moved to Bennigton, Vt. where she was united in marriage to Frederick Reginbald on July 1, 1951. Together they raised a son, Richard "Reggie" Reginbald and lived in Vermont for most of their lives. Dorothy worked at Union Carbide for many years until her retirement. In 2006, Dorothy moved back to the Amsterdam area to be closer to family. She resided with her nephew, Richard and his wife, Susan. She spent time with the Hayes Family of Broadalbin. Dorothy forged a special bond with Elsie and Beth Hayes who welcomed her and loved her dearly. She also became a very special friend to Stephanie Hayes, who would bring her wonderful snacks and soups to her over the years. Aunt Dorothy loved the hugs and affection that she received from her great, great nephew Richard; they always made her smile and were something she looked forward to. She enjoyed QVC and showering friends and family with all kinds of gifts. Dorothy never missed a Yankee game, court TV, or any figure skating events. In 2003, Dorothy was able to see the professional figure skaters at the Times Union Center. Dorothy also loved gardening and enjoyed the fresh fruits and vegetables that she grew in her garden. She was a beautiful, kind and generous soul who touched the hearts of everyone who came in to her life. We will certainly miss our Aunt Dorothy. She was predeceased by her husband, son and siblings, Clara Hawker, Julia Scott, Dolores Phelps, Raymond, Albert and Donald Serafin. Survivors include her siblings, Chester, Leonard and Alfred Serafin; one grandson, Richard Serafin; great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins; and her friends, Bonnie and Judith in Vermont. The Family wishes to thank the staff and nurses at E.L. Wilkinson facility for their compassion and care during her time in the nursing home. Dorothy will make her final journey home to be with her husband, J.R. and her son in the spring, where she will be laid to rest in the Danby Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the staff of Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home. Please visit the online guestbook at : www.brbsfuneal.com
