BENNINGTON -- Mrs. Dorothy Sarah Martin, 101, a resident of Union Street, died Saturday evening, June 18, 2005, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center.

Mrs. Martin was born in Bennington on Dec. 1, 1903. She was the daughter of the late William H. and Carrie (Pierce) Warn. A lifelong resident of Bennington she attended local schools. She was married to Andrew Martin on Sept. 6, 1924 at the Baptist Church Parsonage by the Rev. Towart. Mr. Martin died October 1934.

She was a 60-year member of the First Baptist Church of Bennington, a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star in both the Red Mountain and Mount Anthony Chapters, a charter member of the V.F.W. Post 1332 Auxiliary, a former member of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program and a former member of A.A.R.P.

She leaves her son, Robert Warn Martin of Bennington, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Hubert Warn.

At Mrs. Martin’s request there will be no funeral services. Private burial will take place in the Warn family lot in Bennington Village Cemetery.

Should friends desire, memorial gifts in memory of Mrs. Martin may be made to the Bennington Rescue Squad or the First Baptist Church of Bennington in care of the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home, 213 West Main St., Bennington, VT 05201.
