Dorothy M. Sparrow 1926-2010 WILMINGTON, VT. Dorothy M. Sparrow, a resident of Sparrow Lane in Wilmington and lifelong resident, passed away after a long battle with cancer, December 31, 2010 at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington, Vt. Dorothy was born in Wilmington on October 14, 1926 the daughter of Harry Ray and Mildred Capen Bickford. Dorothy received her education in Wilmington Schools, graduating from Wilmington High School. Dorothy, and her husband, Dude, were the original owners of Dot's Restaurant in Wilmington. After their retirement from Dot's, Dorothy worked as a retail clerk at Coombs Sugar House, the Christmas Barn, and Taddingers. Dorothy loved to golf. She enjoyed going for rides, shopping, going out to lunch and dinner and going camping with her family. She enjoyed flower gardening, loved animals and cherished times spent with her family especially her children and grandchildren. Dorothy is survived by her children, Debra Wilson and her husband Donald of Wilmington and Kathy Stearns and her partner Steve Benedetto of Guilderland, N.Y., her grandchildren, Heather Fletcher, Travis Aldrich, Samantha Stearns-Place, Jessica Stearns, Kelly Ponce, Heather Wilson-Nitcher, Wendi Wilson and Donnie Wilson, many great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. FUNERAL NOTICE: At the request of the family, graveside funeral services will be private. Visiting hours will be held Thursday January 6, 2011 at The Wilmington Congregational Church from 6 to 8 p.m. when the family will be in attendance.
