Dorothy A. Squires

1929 - 2014 BENNINGTON Dorothy A. Squires, 84, of Silver Street, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2014, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center. Dorothy was born in East Arlington, Vt., on Sep. 26, 1929, the daughter of the late Everett and Alice Ward Squires, and attended local schools. She received her Bachelors Degree from the University of Vermont and her Masters Degree from Florida State University. Dorothy was a veteran of the Navy, where she served as a Lieutenant Commander. She taught both at the high school and college levels and was the Dean of Women at Sheridan College in Sheridan, Wyo. She also worked as a customer service representative for Federal Express. Dorothy was an avid reader and loved to skate and especially travel. In her earlier years, she played basketball in high school and loved all water sports. Dorothy is survived by nieces, Helen Squires of Shaftsbury, Paula Ehrenberg and her husband, John, of Michigan, and Janice Arnold of Danby, Vt.; her nephew, Richard Squires and his wife, Ann, of Jericho, Vt.; great-nephews, Seth Arnold, and Floyd, Jim and Andrew Squires, and great nieces, Danielle DuFrense and Christina Bushee.
