Dorothy Amy Hall Vanderpol

BENNINGTON VT & MURRAY HILL NJ Dorothy Amy (Hall) Vanderpol, 88, formerly of Bennington, Vt., and Murray Hill, N.J., Passed away peacefully December 9, 2012 with her loved ones at her side.

She was the daughter of the late Mildred & Basil Hall of Suffern N.Y. Sister of Joyce Augusta (Hall) Munroe and her husband Robert Bruce Munroe of Grainville Ohio. Also sister of the late Allyn Richard Hall. She was formerly married to James Vanderpol of Plaistow N.H., and previously of Bennington, Vt., and Murray Hill, N.J. Dorothy is survived by her four children: Nancy Amy Vanderpol of Barre Vt., Joyce Elizabeth (Vanderpol) Speaker of Barrington, R.I. and husband Robert Speaker, son John James Vanderpol of Hudson, Mass., and daughter Lana Dale (Vanderpol) Truitt of Maricopa, Ariz. Three grandchildren: Elizabeth Sturla and her husband Mario J. Sturla of Barrington, R.I., Robert James Speaker of Framingham, Mass., and his wife Alexis Young Speaker, and Michael Ryan Speaker of Barrington, R.I. Three Great Grandchildren: William, Evangeline and Helena.

She resided at Twin Maples Home for many years with her loving care takers; Sarah, Brenda, Lisa and Debbie.

She previously lived on Margaret Lane in Bennington, Vt., New Providence, N.J., Pittsburgh, Pa., and Natick, Mass.

She graduated from Suffern NY High School class of 1941. She graduated from Tusculum College in Greeneville TN. Class of 1945. She was very accomplished. Majored in Sociology and Psychology. Minor in Philosophy and Religion. Member of the Glee Club, President of the Glee Club, French Club, Pioneer Players Drama Club, Women's Athletic Club, Vice President of Hall of Council, Member of Tusculana Year Book and Editorial Staff, Sorority Member of Tau Beta Gamma. Avid Tennis Player.

Dorothy was an Airline Flight Attendant for TWA and American Airlines. She was also a salesperson for Sears Department Store in Livingston NJ.

She was a Communicant of the Second Congregational Church in Bennington VT and also a previous member of the Summit NJ Presbyterian Church.

She was a registered "Daughter of the American Revolution". Her Dutch Ancestors date back to the Hopper Family in 1650. The Hopper House was used many times during the Revolutionary War by George Washington.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A Memorial Service will be on Saturday, December 29th, 2012 at 3pm at the Second Congregational Church. Reception to follow in the Church Hall. Burial will be private.

In Lieu of Flowers it is respectfully requested that donations be made to the Second Congregational Church, 115 Hillside Drive, Bennington VT, 05201 in her Loving memory. Funeral Arrangements are being made through Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home PO Box 957, Main St, Bennington VT.
