MOUNT TABOR -- Douglas Olsen, 52, of Mt. Tabor, died unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, April 10.

He was born Dec. 1, 1954, in Red Bank, N.J., the son of Edgar and Beatrice Olsen.

He moved to Mt. Tabor in 1965 and graduated from Burr and Burton Seminary in Manchester in 1971. He was employed at Hand Motors in Manchester and had previously worked as a painting contractor in the Rutland area. Mr. Olsen was an accomplished artist and had exhibited his work at a number of art shows. A talented guitarist, he played professionally with bands in the Rutland-Manchester area. His hobbies included skiing, biking, kayaking and mountain biking.

Survivors include three sisters, Jacquelyn Jones of Stamford, Conn., Ellen Kingdon of Lewes, Del., and Christine Coleman of Tinton Falls, N.J.; also three nieces, Adrienne Weitzel of Kissimmee, Fla., Rachel Jones of Croton, N.Y., Stephanie Coleman of Shrewsbury, N.J.; and a nephew, Christopher Kingdon of Seabright, N.J. Mr. Olsen was predeceased by his parents.

A memorial service will be held on May 5 at 11 a.m. at the East Dorset Congregational Church with the Rev. Lawrence Jenney officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland.
