Douglas Arthur Rowe 1950-2011 CASTLETON, VT Douglas Arthur Rowe, 60, a resident of Ellis Orchard Drive in Castleton, passed away Wednesday August 24, 2011 at Rutland Regional Medical Center. Douglas was born in Bennington on November 26, 1950 the son of Roger and Pauline (Lemieux) Rowe. He was educated in Bennington schools and was a member of the first graduating class at Mt. Anthony Union High School in 1968. Douglas also attended Northeastern University in Boston, Mass. Douglas was a manger for Bennington Hardware and was in sales management for Ace Auto in Bennington, Carley's Auto in Rutland and Ed Davis R.V.'s in Fairhaven. Douglas had a great love for animals. In his earlier years he enjoyed skiing, downhill and cross country, snowshoeing, water skiing and kayaking. He enjoyed fishing and cherished times spent with his family and close friends. Douglas is survived by his children Kaitlyn Rowe of Castleton, Christina Mattison and her husband Flynn of Bennington and Keith Rowe of Manchester, Vt., his twin brother Donald W. Rowe and his wife Edith of Woodstock, Vt., his sister Kathleen Davey of Bennington, brothers, Richard Rowe of Cambridge, N.Y. and James Rowe of Eagle Bridge, N.Y., his step-father Edwin Torrey of Bennington, his special caretaker Eric Bacon of Castleton, his former wife Heather Middleton of Fairhaven and two grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Douglas will be held Saturday August 27, 2011 at 12 noon at Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home 213 West Main Street Bennington, Vermont. Rev. Paul Gratz of St. Peter's Episcopal Church will officiate. Interment will follow in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington where Rev, Gratz will offer committal prayers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday August 27, 2011 from 10 a.m. to 12noon, two hours prior to the service.
