Douglas James Zubryd

1955-2013 Douglas James Zubryd, 58, passed away suddenly August 6, 2013 at his residence in Bennington.

Douglas was born June 19, 1955 and was raised on Long Island, New York. He attended Longwood High School in Ridge, N.Y. as well as Stony Brook Prep School in Stony Brook, N.Y. He won many trophies in basketball and baseball. Douglas later attended the Thomas More Institute in New Hampshire as well as the University of Steubenville in Ohio. Douglas was a gifted student as well as a musician. He played trumpet in his high school band as well as guitar in his later years. He was an avid reader and author, as well as an artist.

He will be deeply missed by his daughter Michelle, his mother Frances and his nephew Christopher all of Bennington, VT and his sister Laura of Norwich, VT as well as his niece, Sascha of San Bruno, California. He was pre-deceased by his father, Tony (Anthony) Zubryd who passed away in 1970 and his brother David in 2010.

What Douglas will be remembered most for is his kind and gentle manner and the unconditional love he showed for his family and friends every day.

FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held from the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Saturday August 10, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. with a prayer and then from Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Church at 11:00 a.m where the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be offered.

The burial will take place in the family lot at Saint John's Cemetery in North Bennington.

Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. when the family will be in attendance.
