He was born in East Manchester on Dec. 24, 1927, the son of Hervie W. and Dora (Bentley) Hill and attended local schools.

Edgar was a master carpenter who worked for many construction companies during his career and was instrumental in building Southwestern Vermont Medical Center, Rutland Regional Medical Center, Castleton State College and the Base Lodge at Stratton, among others.

Hill of Orlando, Fla. and Daniel A. Hill of Rocky Mount, N.C.; his daughter, Jean Gaffney of Columbia S.C.; his sister, Christine Dashner of Greenfield, Mass.; and four grandchildren.
