Obituary Condolences

ACTON VALE, CANADA -- Edgar Gosselin, 93, of Valcourt, died on Sept. 21, 2006, in Acton Vale, Canada.

Edgar was the son of Mattheus and Alvine Gosselin. He spent his early years in Ste. Agathe, Canada, on the family farm. At the age of 18 he moved to Acton Vale and became a blacksmith. It was there that he met and married Idola. While they were beginning their lives together, he began his journey back and forth between Canada and the United States logging and farming. He was responsible for bringing many loggers to Somerset, Vt., and the greater Southern Vermont area.

In 1965 the couple moved to Bennington. They spent many happy years here, raising a family. He also enjoyed gardening and woodworking. He loved to talk about his logging days and jobs gone by. He entertained many with tales of the woods.

Mr. Gosselin is survived by his children and their families: Hugette and Michele Savard, Alain Gosselin, Nicole and Dave Burt, Lisette and Andre Cote, Paul Gosselin, Colette Gosselin, Carolle Darling, Mirielle and Jeff Reis, Ginette Reis, and Benoit and Karen Gosselin.

He is also survived by a brother, Benjamen, and two sisters, Adrienne and Marie, and he leaves 37 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

The burial was held on Monday, Sept. 25.
