Obituary Condolences

ARLINGTON -- Edgar Allen “Ed” Pike, 69, formerly of Arlington, and a resident of Apopka, Fla., died on Wednesday evening, June 27, 2007, at the Florida Hospital in Altamonte Springs, Fla., following a courageous battle with cancer. Ed was born in Arlington on February 22, 1938. He was the son of the late George and Ella (Grover) Pike.

He grew up in the Arlington area attending local schools and graduating from Arlington High School in 1956. Following high school, he entered the Navy where he began a 23 year career with the military, retiring at the rank of Chief Petty Officer. With an interest in computers, he then went on to his second career working for a computer company in Florida, retiring after 21 years. Ed had been very involved in his church throughout his life and answered the calling to become a minister and lead a congregation. He was most recently serving as co-pastor of the East Lake Baptist Fellowship Church in Sorrento, Fla., a profession he truly enjoyed. In addition to his church, Ed enjoyed photography, computers and was an avid singer.

Ed is survived by his wife, Mary (Lewis) Pike of Apopka, who he married on December 7, 1963, at The Federated Church of East Arlington; three sons Earl Pike of Garland, Texas, Allen Pike of Orlando, Fla., and Edgar Pike of Orlando, Fla.; a daughter, April Lampe of Orlando, Fla.; a sister Judy Bragg of Middlebury; eight grandchildren and two nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 2 at 3 p.m. at the Federated Church of East Arlington with the Rev. George Hardy and the Rev. Steve Brewer officiating. Viewing hours will be July 2 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the church. Interment with full military honors will take place in the Pike family lot in Evergreen Cemetery. A memorial service will be held July 7, 2007, at 10 a.m. at the Springs Community Ministries Church, 2320 Rock Springs Rd., Apopka, FL 32712.

In lew of flowers, donations in memory of Mr. Pike may be made to the East Lake Baptist Fellowship Church, POB 939, Sorrento, FL, 32776-0939.
