Edith M. Mattison

1914-2010 BENNINGTON Edith M. Mattison, 95, a resident of Crescent Manor Nursing Home and formerly of Arlington, Vt., passed away peacefully Friday evening, April 23, 2010, at Crescent Manor Nursing Home, surrounded by her family.

Born in East Arlington, Vt., on Aug. 26, 1914, the daughter of William Gray and May Squires Andrew, she attended Arlington schools. Edith married Jay L. Mattison on Dec. 6, 1932. Mr. Mattison passed away July 7, 1994.

Edith worked at the Sunderland Motel for over twenty years. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and loved flowers and flower gardening. She enjoyed her home and cherished times spent with her family.

Edith was a member of the Federated Church in East Arlington.

Edith leaves her children, Norman Mattison Sr. and his wife, Lucy, of Arlington, Vt., Jerry Mattison and his wife, Mary, of North Bennington, Mallie Mundel and her husband, Robert, of Washington, Conn., Duane Mattison and his wife, Jan, of Newman Lake, Wash., and Keith Mattison and his wife, Pat, of Whiting, Vt.; 11 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, five great great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her sister, Florence Squires, and her nephew, William Squires.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Edith will be held Tuesday afternoon, Apr. 27, 2010 at 2 p.m. at HANSON-WALBRIDGE FUNERAL HOME, Historic Route 7A, Arlington, VT. Rev. Kathleen Clark, Pastor of the Federated Church in East Arlington, will conduct the service. Interment will follow in the family lot in Ira Allen Cemetery in Sunderland. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be Tuesday, Apr. 27, 2010 from 12-2 p.m., two hours prior to the service.
