Edmund H. Taft, Sr.

1938 - 2013 MANCHESTER Edmund H. Taft, Sr., 75, of Highland Avenue passed unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, April 6, 2013.

He was born Jan. 31, 1938, in Manchester Center, the son of Aaron and Norma (Roberts) Taft. He attended Burr and Burton Seminar in Manchester. Later he served in the Army.

He married the former Virginia Hanlon in Manchester Center on May 7, 1966.

In earlier years, he was employed at Nichols Farm in Dorset, Ken Stacy, Claude Dern Electrical, R.K. Miles and David Hosley.

His hobbies and interests include hunting, playing cards, horse racing, and watching sports.

Survivors include his son, Edmund Taft, Jr. of Manchester Center; his beloved granddaughter, Hadley Grace Taft of Manchester Center; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Janis and Paul Ferenc, Janet and Bruce Waite, Shirley and David Casey all of Dorset; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Norman and Ellie Taft of Kingsland, Ga., and Brad and Cheralyn Taft of Holland, Mich.; three sisters-in-laws, Janet Martelle of Manchester, June Bump of Front Royal, Va., and June Hanlon of Hudson Falls, N.Y.; one brother-in-law, Michael Hanlon of Rutland, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife, Virginia (Hanlon) Taft, on March 8, 2007, and by a sister, Mavis Metty.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Friends may call at BREWSTER FUNERAL HOME in Manchester Center on Friday, April 12, 2013, from 5 to 7 p.m. The funeral will be Saturday, April 13, 2013, at 9 a.m. from Brewster Funeral Home and burial will immediately take place at the East Dorset Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Manchester Health Services, Manchester Center, VT 05255.
