Edna L. Bevis

1945-2015 NORTH BENNINGTON Edna L. Bevis, 70, a resident of Homestead Green in North Bennington died Friday, June 12, 2015 at the Albany Medical Center following a brief illness. She was born in Bennington, Vt. January 19, 1945. She was the daughter of the late Alfred Earl Peters Sr. and Margaret Florence (Gilbar) Peters. Edna received her education in Bennington and was a graduate of Bennington High School. In earlier years Edna was employed as a seamstress at C.B. Sports in Bennington and later retired from WCW in Bennington. She loved cats, especially her cat Sophie and enjoyed baking and sewing. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family. Edna was a lifetime member of the Bennington Rural Fire Department Auxiliary. Survivors include her children, Kimberly Sweet and her husband Scott of Pownal, Vt., Leverette Harrington and his wife Tanya of Shaftsbury, Vt.; five grandchildren, Dustie Sweet and Scott Sweet II of Pownal, Steven Harrington of Glens Falls, N.Y., Paul Harrington of Florida and Lena Nicole Reed of Florida; four great-grandchildren; her step children, step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; two sisters, Beverly Willette of Bennington and Louise Mitchell of LHC, Ariz.; a brother, Robert Peters and his wife, Tina of Cripple Creek, Colo.; two half sisters, Leona Pigstone and Joanie Morris both of Arlington; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was pre-deceased by a brother, Alfred "Butch" Peters Jr. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Wednesday June 17, 2015 at noon. Friends may call at the MAHAR AND SON FUNERAL HOME on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. The burial will take place in the family lot at White Chapel Cemetery. A potluck reception will follow at the North Bennington Fire House. The family would like to invite everyone to bring a dish of their choice. If friends desire contributions in memory of Edna L. Bevis may be made to the Bennington Cancer Crusaders through the office of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St., Bennington, VT 05201.
