SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- Edward A. Hodges, formerly of Saratoga Springs, died Monday, Nov. 13, 2006, at Hoosick Falls Health Center. He was 90.

Born on March 2, 1916, in New York City, he was the son of the late Harry and Loretta (Oak) Hodges. Mr. Hodges was a graduate of St. Peter’s Academy and served in the Army during World War II. He participated in the Battle of the Bulge and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a member of the International Association of Fire Fighters Local No. 343 and served for 32 years with the Saratoga Springs Fire Department, retiring as Captain.

Mr. Hodges was a communicant of St. Clement’s Roman Catholic Church and loved spending time during August at the Saratoga Race Track.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his wife, Ruth (Potter) Hodges, who died in 1966.

Survivors include his daughter, Marjorie Haas and her husband, Daniel of Gansevoort; one sister, Betty F. Folks, of Surfside Beach, S.C.; his grandchildren, Michael Woodcock, Marianne Capuano and Melissa Brownell; and four great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, 2006, at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Friday at St. Clement’s Church, 231 Lake Avenue. Burial with military honors will follow in the family plot at St. Peter’s Cemetery, West Avenue.
