NORTH BENNINGTON -- Edward C. Austin Jr., 77, a resident of North Bennington, died early Wednesday morning, Oct. 6, 2004, succumbing to injuries following a logging accident. Mr. Austin was born June 10, 1927, and was the son of Edward and Rhea (Marsh) Austin Sr. He received his education in White Creek and Hoosick Falls Schools. He spent his life working on the family dairy farm in North Bennington. One of his main enjoyments was growing pumpkins.

He leaves a brother and sister-in-law, Charles E. and Elizabeth A. Austin of Williamstown, Mass.; a sister and brother-in-law, Margaret J. and John Settany of Latham, N.Y.; his brother, William L. Austin of Troy, N.Y.; and two sisters-in-law, Mary Austin of White Creek, N.Y. and Ann Austin of Bennington. Edward also has several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is predeceased by two brothers, Harold Austin and Karl Austin. Graveside services will be held on Saturday morning, Oct. 9, at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Hoosick Falls at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Deborah Estey, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Bennington, officiating.
