Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Edward H. Brookman, 81, a former resident of South Street, Bennington, died Wednesday, March 10, 2004 at the Vermont Veterans Home.

Born in Williamstown, Mass. Oct. 28, 1922, he was the son of the late Ronald and Ada (Bratcher) Brookman. He received his education in the Williamstown schools. Mr. Brookman was a World War II Army veteran, serving from Dec. 8, 1942 until Jan. 22, 1946.

He married the former June Knights on Aug. 17, 1946 at the First United Methodist Church in Bennington. Mrs. Brookman died April 8, 1992.

In earlier years, he was employed as a truck driver at the former BenMont Co. in Bennington.

Mr. Brookman is survived by two sons, Steven E. Brookman of Colonie, N.Y. and Lawrence J. Brookman of Woodford; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two brothers, James Brookman of Pownal and David Brookman of Middlebury; two sisters, Belva Babcock and Betty Walker, both of Williamstown, Mass.; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a sister and a brother, Ellen Fosselman and Charles Brookman.

The funeral will be held from All Faiths Chapel at the Vermont Veterans Home on Saturday, March 13, 2004 at noon with the Rev. John C. Foster, chaplain, officiating.

There will be no calling hours.

Burial will take place in the spring at the family lot in Oak Hill Cemetery, Pownal. Contributions in Edward H. Brookman’s memory may be made to the Bennington Rescue Squad through the office of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St., Bennington, VT 05201.
