Edward Howard Obituary
Edward F. Howard

SHAFTSBURY Edward Franklin Howard, 88, a resident of Shaftsbury, died Wednesday April 3, 2013, at Bennington Health and Rehabilitation, following a long illness. Frank was the only son born to Edward Bottum Howard and Era Grace (Grout) Howard. He was educated in Shaftsbury schools and graduated from Bennington High School, class of 1942. He attended the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, R.I., and later studied with faculty members from New York City's Art Students League, whose summer school was based in Pownal.

Frank's works have been featured in exhibits, one-man shows and art galleries. Frank also welcomed visitors to his art studio in Shaftsbury, where his work featured many themes and completed an extensive collection of noted paintings throughout his career.

Known as Shaftsbury's artist, Frank was a remarkable man. He was a well-read man, whose respect for nature was evident in the way he chose to live a solitary life. Frank also found pleasure in writing prose pieces and poetry.

Frank is survived by cousins of the Grout and Howard families and many lifelong friends.
