Edward J. Bushee 1970 - 2009 BENNINGTON, VT Edward John Bushee, 38, a resident of East Main Street, died suddenly Thursday evening, July 30, 2009 while practicing football with the Southern Vermont Storm. Ed was born in Bennington on Dec. 22, 1970, son of the late Frances "Bang" and Sharyll Wager Bushee. Ed grew up in Bennington where he attended local schools. He graduated from Mt. Anthony Union High School in 1989 as Captain of the football team, an All- State player, and a Twin State Shrine Game selection. Following high school he attended Schenectady County Community College where he graduated with a degree in Culinary Arts. He formerly worked as a chef at Alldays and Onions, The Bennington Station, and as a pastry chef at the Williams Inn. He also worked in construction as a mason and as a driver for FedEx and Bennington Furniture. An outstanding football player throughout his life, he played for The Berkshire Mountaineers and was a Captain of the Southern Vermont Storm where he earned all-conference honors. He took conditioning very seriously and assisted the Mt. Anthony Football team as strength conditioning coach and had coached the middle school team in 1994. Ed was a longtime fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Ed will be remembered as a humble hardworking man who was devoted to his family and home-life as well as for his outstanding sense of humor. He leaves his wife, Christine Knapp Bushee, whom he married Jan. 31, 1996, in Bennington, their children Samuel Porter Bushee and July Sharise Bushee all of Bennington, brothers Douglas E. Bushee, and fiancé, Victoria Joslin of Pownal, Ed's twin David E. Bushee, and wife Leanne, of Bennington, close friends George Pratt, Shawn Boulger and Trampas Potter as well as nieces, nephews and cousins. FUNERAL NOTICE: Friends may call at the HANSON-WALBRIDGE FUNERAL HOME on Monday, Aug. 3 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. when the family will be present. A Celebration of his life will be announced at a later date.
