DANBY -- Edward (Buddy) Burden, 60, a lifelong resident of Danby, died on Tuesday night, July 6, 2004 at the Rutland Regional Medical Center following an illness. He was born in Danby March 13, 1944, the son of the late William and Helen (Wells) Burden. He attended Danby schools.

He went from school right into working for Vermont Quarries where he worked for more than 40 years operating machinery. Buddy always kept very busy. When he wasn’t in the quarry he would still have work to do. Buddy loved his family and animals. He enjoyed working outdoors in his flower and vegetable gardens. His family, friends and dog Misty will miss him dearly.

He is survived by his brother, Gene Burden of Danby; his sisters, Linda Wade of Danby, Barbara Twenty of Rutland, and Betty Waite of Pawlet; also several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, William Charles Burden Jr., and his sister, Carol Burden.

The funeral will be held on Friday, July 9, 1 p.m. at Brewster Funeral Home in Manchester. A graveside service of committal will follow in the Danby Cemetery. The Rev. Larry Jenney, pastor of the Congregational Church in East Dorset, will officiate. Following the services a reception will follow in the Danby Town Hall.
