Obituary Condolences

WINSTON SALEM, N.C. -- Edward Manning Sprague, a former resident of Readsboro, Vt., passed away Monday, March 5, 2007, at the Lutheran Home in Winston Salem, N.C. He was the born, June 21, 1941 in Burlington, Vt., to the late Merton E. and Gladys Johnson Sprague, formerly of Readsboro. He received his education in Readsboro, Vt.

Mr. Sprague was a veteran of the Army and a member of the Freeman Street Baptist Church in Winston Salem, N.C.

Edward drove for Pilot Freight Carriers for 18 years and retired from Cardinal Freight after five years of service. He began his driving career with the former Wm. H. Morse Construction Company in Bennington, Vt.

Surviving are his wife of 39 years, Beverly Choquette Sprague; a daughter Melissa A. Sprague of Winston Salem, NC; a son Jeffery S. Sprague (Darla); two grandchildren of Kernersville, NC; an uncle in Pownal, Vt and many cousins and friends in Southern Vermont and New York State.

A funeral service was conducted Thursday, March 8, at Hayworth-Miller-Cain Funeral Home Chapel, with pastor Bob Whitaker officiating. The family received friends after the service. A private graveside service was conducted Friday, March 9, at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Lutheran Home, 5350 Old Walkertown Road, Winston Salem, N.C. 27105 or the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org.
