Edward A. Pleasant

1937-2014 BENNINGTON Edward A. Pleasant, 76, of Bennington, Vt. died Sunday, June 15, 2014 following a brief illness. Ed was born in Bennington on March 27, 1937 to Vera Cuthbert and Harold Pleasant Sr. In earlier years Ed was employed in Connecticut at Oxford Airport, Uniroyal and the Connecticut State Highway Department. In 1973 he moved back to Vermont with his family and was employed at the Bijur Corporation. In 1974 Ed was employed at the Soldiers Home which later became to Vermont Veterans Home where he retired after 25 years as maintenance supervisor. Survivors include seven children, Roy Pleasant and his fiancee Theresa Moore of Bennington, Garry Pleasant and his wife, Gail of Mooseup, Connecticut, Ronald Pleasant and his wife, Suzanne of Watertown, Connecticut, David Pleasant and his wife, Diane of Thomaston, Connecticut, Deborah Stratton and her husband, Tony of Bennington, Dennis Pleasant and his wife, Linda of Bennington and Keith Pleasant and his wife, Torrey of Clarksburg, Massachusetts; a brother, Robert of Bennington; a half-brother, Richard Pleasant of California; a half-sister, Lillian LaRosa of Salem, N.H.; a step-sister, Margaret O'Dell of West Hoosick, N.Y.; a step-mother, Sadie Pleasant of West Hoosick, N.Y.; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Ed was predeceased by a brother, Harold Pleasant Jr.; and a granddaughter, Aimee Pleasant. The family would like to thank all of the staff and doctors at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation for the great care and love he received while there and his time spent at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center. Friends are invited to pay their respects to the family of Edward A. Pleasant at the MAHAR SON FUNERAL HOME on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. Should friends desire memorial contributions in Mr. Pleasant's memory may be made to the Activities Fund at the Vermont Veterans Home through the office of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main Street, Bennington, VT 05201.
