Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Mr. Edward G. Ross, 84, a resident of Town Line Road, died Saturday, Sept. 2, 2006, at his residence.

He was born in New York City Aug. 7, 1922. He was the son of the late George and Emma (Nunberg) Ross. He received his education in New York and was a 1940 graduate of Textile High School.

A World War II veteran, Mr. Ross served in the United States Army from Dec. 21, 1942 until Feb. 6, 1946.

He married the former Rita Donaldson Feb. 7, 1948, in Yonkers, N.Y. In July of 1942, Ed began working at Dugan’s Bakery, where he delivered baked goods until 1966, when he became manager of Tom’s Candy. He later became an account executive for American Bakery’s in New York from which he retired in 1984. Ed was a member of the NorShaft Lions Club, the VFW Post 1332 and the American Legion Post 13. In earlier years, Ed played and taught ice hockey in Yonkers, and he enjoyed gardening.

Survivors include his wife, Rita A. Ross, of Bennington; a daughter, Rita Ann Wilson, of Mamoroneck, N.Y.; two sons, Edward G. Ross Jr., of Dupont, Pa., and Raymond Ross, of Irvington, N.Y.; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

The burial will take place in the family lot in White Chapel Cemetery Friends may call at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home on Monday Sept. 4, 2006, from 2 to 4 p.m.
