Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Edward S. “Ted” Morse Sr., 65, a resident of Pleasant Street, died suddenly Sunday, Sept. 7, 2003 at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center.

Born in Bennington Dec. 30, 1937, he was the son of the late Richard and Helen (Gates) Morse. He received his education in the Bennington schools.

Mr. Morse married the former Marjorie Hulett in North Bennington on Aug. 4, 1979. Mr. and Mrs. Morse have been together for more than 40 years.

He enjoyed spending his time fishing, cooking, woodworking and with his grandchildren. He was also an avid fan of both the New York Yankees and the New York Giants.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Morse of Bennington; 10 children, Darsee Morse of Bradford, Darren Boardman of Rochester, Terrie Williams of Society Hill, S.C., Derryck Boardman, Catherine Morse, Richard F. Morse II, William Boardman, Bertha Sargent, Helen Morse and Edward “Bear” Morse Jr., all of Bennington; 26 grandchildren; a great-grandson; five sisters, Peggy Teator of Chatham, N.Y., Rita Payne of Randolph, Ava Maxham, Patricia Reynolds and Geraldine Wideawake, all of Bennington; three brothers, Phil Morse of Ozark, Ala., Donald Morse of Bennington and Patrick Morse of Granville, N.Y.; an uncle, Arthur Carroll and his wife Arvilla of White Creek, N.Y.; several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews and cousins. Mr. Morse was predeceased by a son. Harry Morse, a grandson. David Sargeant, two sisters and a brother, Donna Morse, Kathleen Bourn and Willard Morse.

The funeral will be held from the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Thursday, Sept. 11, 2003 at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Michael Demasi officiating.

Friends may call the funeral home Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. when the family will be in attendance.

Burial will take place in the family lot in White Chapel Cemetery.
