Edward Wallace "Joe" Grover

Obituary Condolences

LONDONDERRY -- The Second Congregational Church in Londonderry was filled Tuesday morning for a service of remembrance and thanksgiving for the life of Edward Wallace “Joe” Grover. The Rev. Laurie Kroos, pastor, officiated.

Organist Carol Wing led the congregation in the singing of the hymns “O Beautiful for Spacious Skies” and “Amazing Grace.”

The Rev. Kroos offered words of gathering and the prayer of invocation. Readings from the Old Testament, Psalms 23 and 121, and New Testament readings, 2 Corinthians 4 and 5 and John 14:1-6, were offered by the Rev. Kroos. Longtime friend Kermit Reilly offered the eulogy.

Burial followed in the family lot in Riverside Cemetery, where the Rev. Kroos offered committal prayers. Full military honors, including color guard, firing squad and taps, were accorded by the American Legion Post 82 from Londonderry, Post 67 from Chester and Post 771 from Springfield.

The committal service concluded with piping over the side, a burial-at-sea ceremony by Naval officers.

Among the many delegations present were representatives from Wantastiquet Rotary Club, Manchester Lions Club, the National Ski Patrol and various members from country clubs and golf courses Mr. Grover belonged to.

A time for fellowship was held downstairs in the church following the service.

Mr. Grover, of Hell’s Peak Road in Londonderry, died Friday afternoon, June 11, 2004 at the Rutland Regional Medical Center.

Funeral arrangements were under the care of Brewster Funeral Service, Manchester Center.
