Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Funeral services for Edwin R. Maroney were held from Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church Friday, August 26, 2003 where the liturgy of Christian death and burial was offered by Rev. Vincent Coppola, c.s.c , associate pastor.

Organist was Don McMahon and cantor was Monica Murray. Hymns offered during the funeral service were “Ave Maria,” “Amazing Grace,” “How Lovely is Your Dwelling Place” and “Song of Farewell.”

The funeral pall that draped Mr. Maroney’s casket was placed by his four sons, Ed, David, Brian and Thomas Maroney. A wooden cross was than placed on the casket by a granddaughter, Erin Maroney.

The scriptural readings were offered by two granddaughters, Tara Maroney and Katie Watters. The offertory gifts were presented by three granddaughters, Liza Joyce, Mary Ellen Devlin and Megan LeBlanc. Words of remembrance were offered by a grandson, Matthew Maroney.

Bearers were three grandsons, Matthew Maroney, Brian Maroney Jr. and Kyle Maroney; also three grandsons-in-law, Arthur Devlin, James Joyce and Christopher Watters.

Acolytes were James Kemp, Leonard Anzivino, Paul Caron and Val Clifford A prayer service at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home preceded the funeral mass.

Thursday evening members of Knights of Columbus Council 307 were led in the recitation of the Rosary by Chaplain Rev. Michael A. Demasi. A poem was also offered by Paul Caron.

Burial took place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery with Father Copploa offering the committal prayers.

Following the funeral service a reception for family and friends was held at the Bennington Elks lodge.

Mr. Maroney, a resident of Washington Avenue, Bennington, died September 23, 2003 at Albany, N.Y. Medical Center following a long illness.
