Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Edythe L. Ravenna, 97, a former resident of County Street and more recently of Washington Elms, died Sunday, Dec. 02, 2007, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center following a long illness.

Born in Williamstown, Mass., Jan. 30, 1910, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Elizabeth (Jordan) Marra. She received her education in the Bennington schools.

Edythe was married to Anthony J. Rock Sr. who died Nov. 10, 1970. She later married Gino Ravenna who died several years ago.

In earlier years, Edythe was employed at the former EZ Mill and the Bradford Mill. She later operated community care homes in North Bennington, Manchester, Dorset and Pawlet.

Edythe enjoyed attending the Charity House bingo, baking, fishing, watching television and collecting stuffed animals.

Survivors include two sons, and daughters-in-law Anthony and Debbie Rock of Bennington and Larry and Linda Rock of Woodford; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Maribee Morgan of Bennington; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Ravenna was predeceased by a son, Kenneth Rock Sr., a step-son, Leon Rock, and by a sister and brother, Mona McDonald and Edward Morgan.

The funeral will be held from the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Michael Twardy of the Bible Baptist Church in Bennington officiating.

Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 12 p.m. until the time of the service.

Burial will take place in the family lot at Bennington Village Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
