Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Eldo Butera, 90, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005, at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington. He was born in Schenectady, N.Y. on Oct. 20,1914, the son of Anthony and Josephine Butera. After living most of his life in Schenectady and Scotia, he moved to Bennington in July 2003.

Eldo was an operational planner at General Electric for 36 years, retiring in 1977. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, GE Quarter Century Club, Italo-American Society and Amity Hall. He was also a Schenectady County deputy sheriff and a school crossing guard.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 63 years, Lena Cesaro Butera; a loving daughter, Judith Ann Berry and her husband Ray of Bennington; two caring grandsons, Scott Berry of Hillsville, Va. and Jeffrey Berry of Bennington; special sister-in-law Ann Sayles of Scotia, N.Y.; seven cherished great-grandchildren and five nieces and nephews.

The funeral service takes place Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at DeLegge Funeral Home, 1346 Chrisler Ave., Schenectady. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the funeral home from 9 to 10:30 a.m., prior to the service. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Sacred Heart Elementary School, School St., Bennington, VT 05201.
