BENNINGTON -- Mrs. Eleanor Louise Danforth, 75, a resident of East Main Street, died Thursday morning, Dec. 8, 2005, at her residence following a long illness.

She was born in Bennington, June 2, 1930. She was the daughter of the late Harold Babcock and the former Ethel (Smith) Babcock who survives. She received her education in Bennington.

She married Lormier Danforth in October 1947.

In earlier years Eleanor was employed at the Lloyd Studio in Bennington. For 18 years, she worked at Paulin’s Garage in Shaftsbury and she was also a partner of her brother George with Babcock Electric Television Sales and Service.

Eleanor enjoyed doing crafts with her niece, Deborah, and especially enjoyed spending time with her cat “Buffy.”

Survivors include her two sons, Byron Danforth of Keene, N.H., and James Danforth and his wife Jeanne, of Troy, N.Y.; a grandson Chris Danforth, of Arlington; her mother, Ethel Babcock, of North Bennington; her beloved brother and caregiver, George Babcock, of Bennington; and a niece, Deborah Bates, of Lakeland, Fla. She was predeceased by her sister, Linda Babcock, who died in 1949.

At the request of Mrs. Danforth there will be no calling hours or funeral services.

A graveside service will be held at Park Lawn Cemetery on Monday, Dec. 12, 2005, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Michael Morneault officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Eleanor Louise Danforth may be made to VNA and Hospice of SVHC through the office of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St., Bennington, VT 05201.
