LEESBURG, Fla. -- Eleanor M. Ellie Corkum, 69, of Leesburg, Fla., died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2007, in Leesburg.

Mrs. Corkum was a finance clerk with Southwest Vermont Supervisory Union in Bennington, Vt., retiring in 1999.

She was born in Stoughton, Mass., and moved to Leesburg from Bennington in 1999. She was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church. Ellie was active at Lakes of Leesburg in chorus, the Kadoodleiers, bingo and Ladies Golf Club. She was in the chorus and a volunteer at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, and a volunteer at the Leesburg Food Bank.

She is survived by her husband, Verne S. Corkum of Leesburg; her children, Bruce Corkum of Portland, Ore., Terri Johnson of Ladson, S.C., Donna Corkum of Manchester, Vt.; brothers Richard Gay of Brockton, Mass., Robert Gay of Dover, Del., Paul Gay of Brockton, Mass., sister-in-law Rosemary Gay of East Bridgewater, Mass. and seven grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Eleanor Corkum will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 18, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church with Father Kent Walker officiating.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Catholic Church, 1330 Sunshine Ave., Leesburg, FL 34748.

Arrangements are under the direction of Beyers Funeral Home, Leesburg.
