Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- The funeral of Eleanor M. Jones was held from Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Church on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2007, where the Mass of Resurrection was offered by the Rev. Vincent J. Coppola, c.s.c associate pastor. A prayer service at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home preceded the mass.

The organist was Donald McMahon and the soloist was Katie Beck. Hymns offered during the mass were “How Great Thou Art”, “Supper of the Lord” and “Amazing Grace.” Mr. Charles “Pete” Taylor sang “My Tribute” and Eleanor’s great-granddaughter Carly Rogers sang an acapella rendition of “Amazing Grace.”

The casket pall was placed on Mrs. Jones’ casket by her three daughters, Joan Young, Marilyn Boyle and Carol Prenoveau. A wooden cross was then placed on the casket by a granddaughter, Lynn Beals. The scriptural readings were offered by a great-granddaughter Victoria Beals and a grandson Martin Boyle. The offertory gifts were brought to the altar by two great-granddaughters Megan and Victoria Beals. The eulogy was offered by a son-in-law, Charles Boyle.

Serving as pall bearers were grandsons James Boyle, Keith Boyle, Martin Boyle, John Playotes, Thomas Playotes and Victor Young Jr. and a great-grandson Michael Rogers.

Serving as acolytes were Francis Sausville, Leonard Anzivino, Joseph Anton and Edward Molloy.

The burial took place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery with Father Coppola offering the committal prayers.

A reception followed the service at the Bennington Lodge of Elks 567.

Mrs. Jones, a former resident of Silver Street and more recently of Rivers Edge Community Care Home, died Feb. 11, 2007, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center.
