1920 - 2015 BENNINGTON Mrs. Eleanor J. Michaels, age 94, a former resident of Gage Street in Bennington and most recently from Centers for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington, died on Sunday morning, September 20, 2015 following a long illness. She was born in Petersburgh, NY, on October 5, 1920 and was the daughter of the late Leon Everett and Clara (Church) Jones. Eleanor received her education in Petersburgh and Hoosick Falls, she later received her GED. Eleanor married C. Lloyd Michaels, John 25, 1937 in Petersburgh. Mr. Michaels died July 19, 1966. In earlier years, Eleanor was employed at Reis Company in Berlin, NY and for five years, at Nancy Shoe in Hoosick Falls, NY. She later worked from 1980 until 1986 as a seamstress in the maternity ward at Putnam Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the Berkshire Eastern Star, Chapter 500. She enjoyed listening to tapes, watching television, sewing and knitting. Survivors include two sons; Robert Lloyd of Berlin, NY and William James Michaels of Rockford, IL. She leaves 21 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, 27 great-great-grandchildren. She leaves one sister, Thelma Meliti of Northport, FL as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Eleanor is predeceased by her son, Gary Michaels and her daughter, Carol (Michaels) Brock and three brothers, Milford, Duane and Wayne Jones. FUNERAL NOTICE: Graveside committal services will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at Meadow Lawn Cemetery in Petersburgh, NY at 3p.m. At Eleanor's request there will be no calling hours.
