Eleanor R. Metcalfe Carpenter 1916 - 2009 HOOSICK FALLS Eleanor R. Metcalfe Carpenter, 93, longtime resident of Hoosick Falls died on Monday evening surrounded by her loving family at the Hoosick Falls Health Center where she had resided since 2000. She was under the care of Community Hospice of Rensselaer County. Born in Stillwater, N.Y., on May 27, 1916, she was the only child of Albert and Leah Drumm Metcalfe. She was the loving wife of the late Walter Carpenter who died on Aug. 31, 1990. They were married in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., on Feb. 28, 1970. Eleanor was raised and educated in Stillwater and Hoosick Falls, where she moved at age 12. She had worked in various factories in Hoosick Falls and Bennington. Eleanor worked for the Undergarment, Co. in Hoosick Falls until they closed. She retired in 1978 from Stanley Tools in Shaftsbury. Eleanor was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hoosick Falls where she enjoyed the company of friends and family at church functions. She was also a member of the Hoosick Senior Citizens. She enjoyed knitting for her grandchildren. She leaves her children Edward A. (Patsy) Blondin of Boise, Idaho, William J. (Edith) Blondin of Chelesa, Vt., Margaret A. "Peg" Stevens of Bennington, Vt., 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. MEMORIAL NOTICE: A Memorial Service will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. in the First Baptist Church of Hoosick Falls, Main Street where Pastor Thomas Azar will officate. Burial will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Hospice of Rensselaer County or the Hoosick Falls Health Center in care of ROBSON-REINFURT FUNERAL HOME, 72 Main Street, Hoosick Falls, NY 12090.
