Betty, as she was affectionately known, was born on July 21, 1918, at home in Belmont, Mass., daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth (Adams) Kimball. She was educated in Belmont, graduating from Belmont High School, and graduated from Junior College in New Hampshire. After visiting many towns in New England and upstate New York, she and Gene selected and moved to Bennington in 1948 from Cornell (Ithaca), N.Y.
Betty cared very much for her community, which was very evident from her time spent volunteering for multiple organizations. She was a member and chairperson of the American Red Cross Blood Mobile. She was a member of the Grey Ladies at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center and the Plain Dirt Gardeners. She was a Girl Scout Group Leader for years, conducted the Bennington Antique Show, and was very active as a member of the Second Congregational Church in Bennington, where she also sang in the choir and arranged church flowers. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels and was a tennis and ski instructor. She volunteered for RSVP for over 20 years.
In addition to playing tennis and skiing (both downhill and cross country), she enjoyed bird watching and traveling all over the world. She also enjoyed listening to and singing all kinds of music. She loved poetry, especially Robert Frost, and was a lifelong Boston Red Sox baseball fan.
Betty is survived by her husband, Eugene V. Clark of Bennington, whom she married June 9, 1943, in Belmont, Mass., her sons, Kimball C. Clark, M.D. of Manlius, N.Y., and Thomas H. Clark and his wife, Joan Genova, of Reading, Mass.; her grandchildren, Melissa and Adam Clark, and many nieces and nephews.
