Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Eliza O’Dell, 80, a resident of Gore Road, passed away peacefully following a long illness on Friday evening, Jan. 6, 2006, surrounded by her family at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington.

Mrs. O’Dell was born Oct. 21, 1925, and raised in Petersburgh, N.Y. Eliza received her education in the local schools.

She married Samuel O’Dell in 1948 in Petersburgh. Mr. O’Dell predeceased her. Eliza lived in Bennington for the past 35 years. She was employed as a machine operator at the BenMont Paper Company for several years. She was later employed at the Polygraphic Company until the time of her retirement.

Mrs. O’Dell especially loved her grandchildren, her cats and going shopping with her daughter, Cindy.

Eliza is survived by two sons, Roy Salisbury of Henderson, Nev., and Ronnie Salisbury of Bennington; her daughter, Cindy Button of Bennington; her 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by one son, Samuel O’Dell, Jr. and one daughter, Sandy L. O’Dell.

The entire family would like to extend thanks to the staff on East Wing at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center for the wonderful things that they did for Eliza. They would personally like to thank Tammy, Heather, Mindy and all of the other nurses and doctors who cared for Eliza.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2006 at 3 p.m. at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St., Bennington, with the Rev. Michael DeMasi officiating. Interment will follow in the White Chapel Cemetery in Bennington.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday afternoon, from 1 until the time of the service.
