Elizabeth Dalton LaCroix 1923 - 2009 BENNINGTON Elizabeth "Betty" Ursula Josephine Dalton LaCroix, passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord on Feb. 2, 2009. Betty was born on March 21, 1923, in Plymouth, England, to Frederick and Margaret Dalton. She was educated in England and served her country in the Auxiliary Territorial Service of the British Army in World War II. Following the war, Betty moved with her family to the United States, settling in Bennington, Vt., where she met and married her husband, Joseph, in 1952. Betty and Joe lived in Waterford, N.Y., where Betty worked for many years at Cluett & Peabody, Troy, N.Y., and attended St. Mary's Catholic Church. In 2003, they moved to Cary, N.C. Betty spent her later years at Elmcroft Assisted Living in Raleigh. Betty treasured her family and friends and was an avid correspondent. She had a special place at her home in Waterford, with a view of the Hudson River, where she would write and read her letters. Betty was a gentle and caring person who always thought of others before herself. Betty leaves her husband, Joseph LaCroix, of Raleigh; sister, Enid Houran of Port Charlotte, Fla.; daughter, Marta Page, and husband, James, of Loudonville, N.Y.; son, Geoffrey LaCroix, and wife, Rose Ann, of Whitesboro, N.Y.; and son, Timothy LaCroix, wife, Karol, and grandson Samuel Allan of Cary, N.C. Elizabeth was predeceased by her parents and her brothers William, Allan, John, and Samuel. FUNERAL NOTICE: Memorial services will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Waterford, N.Y., on March 21, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will take place at Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington in the Spring.
