BENNINGTON -- Elizabeth M. Humphrey, 85, widow of Robert J. Humphrey, a resident of Jennings Drive, died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2006, at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation, following a long illness.

Born in Bennington Feb. 6, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Nina (Elliott) Mathers. She received her education in the Bennington schools. Mr. and Mrs. Humphrey were married in Hoosick Falls, N.Y., Dec. 26, 1936.

Mr. Humphrey died Aug. 4, 2000.

In earlier years, Mrs. Humphrey was employed at EZ Mill and Flint & Robbins in Bennington and Eagle Square Manufacturing in Shaftsbury. Later she was employed at BenMont Paper Co. until her retirement.

Mrs. Humphrey was a longtime member of the former Chapel Road Church of God in Bennington. She especially enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Bernard Dwyer of Bennington; two grandsons, Bernard M. Dwyer Jr. and his wife, Pam, of Wilmington and Ronald S. Dwyer and his wife, Anabel, of Shaftsbury; four great-grandchildren, Ashley and Olden Dwyer and Drew and Daniel Hogan; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Shirley Mathers of Eagle Bridge, N.Y.; a sister, Joan Kleiner of Florida; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

At Mrs. Humphrey’s request funeral services will be private.

Burial will take place in the family lot in White Chapel Cemetery.
