BENNINGTON -- Elizabeth M. “Betty” Marcoux, 84, wife of Lionel J. Marcoux, a resident of Stafford Street, died Friday, Dec. 8, 2006, at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, Minn., after being stricken while visiting her daughter and son-in-law.

Born in Bennington April 11, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence J. and Margaret Theresa (Kelley) McCoy. She received her education in the Bennington schools.

Lionel and Betty were married at St. Francis de Sales Church in Bennington on Nov. 6, 1942.

In earlier years Betty was employed at EZ Mills in Bennington. She later worked as a secretary at Tansitor Electronics in Bennington and from many was employed in the office at H.M. Tuttle Co. until the time of her retirement.

Betty was a communicant of Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church where she also served as a Eucharistic minister. She was also a member of St. Agnes Society at the church. Betty enjoyed baking, growing flowers, swimming, walking, and attending her coffee club group at Price Chopper.

Survivors include her husband, Lionel J. Marcoux of Bennington; her children, Donna M. Alexander and her husband David P. of Bennington, Jo-Ann Luth and her husband William of Maple Plain., Minn., and Jeffrey Marcoux and Laura Callanan of Bennington, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, Shawn Alexander, his wife Kim and their son Ian of Dallas, Texas, Michelle Alexander, her husband John Connell and their children, Cyonn, Autumn and Linnaia, Paula Alexander-Salazar, her husband, Bernardo Salazar and their two children, Emiliano and Oliver, and Chase and Cole Marcoux, all of Bennington; a sister, Ann DeRienzo of New Jersey; a very special niece and nephew, Shirley Mears and her husband, Clyde and Billy McCoy and his wife, Bev, all of Bennington; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Marcoux was predeceased by three brothers, Paul, Joseph and Francis McCoy.

The funeral will be held from the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2006, at 10 a.m. with a prayer and from Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales at 10:30 a.m. where the Mass of Resurrection will be offered.

Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 3 to 7 p.m. when the family will be in attendance. The Wake Service will be offered Monday afternoon.

Burial will take place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery.

All members of the St. Anne’s Society are asked to meet at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Monday at 4:30 p.m. for the recitation of the Rosary.
