BENNINGTON -- Elizabeth M. Sausville, 80, widow of Robert E. Sausville, a longtime resident of Northside Drive, died Tuesday Nov. 22, 2005, at the home of her daughter, Cheryl York, in Warrensburg, N.Y.

Born in Bennington, June 12, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Imelda (Betit) Roy. She received her education in the Bennington schools.

Mr. and Mrs. Sausville were married at Sacred Heart Church in Bennington on July 1, 1944. Mr. Sausville died Feb. 18, 2002.

In earlier years Mrs. Sausville was employed at Union Carbide Corporation and also at Bellemare & Sons Funriture store. A self-employed seamstress, she specialized in making slip covers and draperies.

She was a devout member of Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church and served as a Eucharistic minister at the church. She was a member of St. Anne’s Society at the church for many years.

She enjoyed sewing and spending time with her family.

Survivors include a son, Anthony R. Sausville of Bennington; five daughters, Cheryl York of Warrensburg, Collette Tate of Clemmins, N.C., Sylvia Sausville of Bennington, Roberta Sausville Devine of Wilmington, Mass., and Celeste Edmindson of Worcester, Mass.; 18 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lucille Horton of Pittsfield, Mass., and Juliette Wheeler of Falston, Md.; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, greatnieces, greatnephews and cousins. Mrs. Sausville was predeceased by a brother, Roland T. Roy.

The funeral will be held at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, Saturday, Nov. 22, 2005 at 9:30 a.m. with a prayer from Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church at 10 a.m. where a Mass of resurrection will be offered.

Friends may call at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Friday Nov. 25, 2005, from 4 to 8 p.m. when the family will be in attendance.

Burial will take place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery.

Contributions in memory of Mrs. Sausville may be made to the Bennington Rescue Squad or Sacred Heart School through the office of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St., Bennington, VT 05201
