HOOSICK FALLS., N.Y. -- Elizabeth Jane “Bette” McMartin, 76, died Wednesday, March 28, 2007, at her residence on Walton Street surrounded by her loving family. She resided there with her husband John.

Bette was born on Oct. 18, 1930, in Hoosick Falls daughter of the late William J. and Anna (McGrath) Griffin. She graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in Hoosick Falls and attended Troy Business School in Troy. In her earlier years Bette was bookkeeper for Barclay Home Products in Hoosick Falls, and later was a homemaker. She was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church and the Elks Auxiliary both in Hoosick Falls. Bette enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.

Survivors other than her husband, John, include three daughters, Karen Jennings and her husband, Larry, Donna Trottier and her husband, John, all of Hoosick Falls, and Debra O’Neill and her husband, Robert, of Exeter, N.H; two brothers William Griffin and his wife, Carlene, of Nevada and James Griffin of Hoosick Falls. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Kari Dowling, Rob Dowling, Sean Pruso, John Trottier, Scott Trottier, Bobby O’Neill and Julianna O’Neill, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be Saturday, March 31, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. from the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. from the Immaculate Conception Church. Burial will follow the mass at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hoosick Falls.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to either the Rensselaer County Community Hospice or St. Mary’s Academy through the funeral home.
