Elizabeth Porter 1929-2011 ADAMS Mrs. Elizabeth Vienneau Porter, 81, of 33 1/2 Alger St. Adams, died Tuesday morning, May 31, 2011, at North Adams Regional Hospital. She was born in Bathurst, New Brunswick, Canada on October 20, 1929, a daughter of the late Joseph and Rosanna Bertin Vienneau. She attended schools in Canada, and came to this country in 1953. Mrs. Porter last worked as a sewing machine operator at the former CB Sports, until her retirement. Earlier, she had worked at the former Hunter Outdoor Products Co. and the former Cecile Industries. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Cheshire. She enjoyed reading, knitting and playing cards. She was an incredible baker, making cookies, pies and breads for her family. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Raymond A. Porter, whom she married on April 11, 1953; a son, David Porter, and his wife, Vicky, of Green Cove Springs, Fla.; two daughters, Gail (Porter) Assante, and her husband, John, of Adams; and Jennifer ( Porter) Cottrell and her friend, Ed Bolaski, of Hoosick Falls, New York; a brother, Richard Vienneau and his wife, Jennie, of Bathurst, N.B., Canada; a sister, Mary Julia Birmingham, of Adams; eight grandchildren; Sherry Young, Caitlin Loverin, Meghan Fuson, Heather Porter, Misty Assante, Eva Assante, Angela Cottrell and Amber Cottrell; eight Great Grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. A daughter, Constance Rae Porter, died on August 25, 1967. She was also predeceased by four brothers and two sisters. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 8th, 2011, at 12 Noon in the First United Methodist Church of Cheshire. Warren Scamman, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams.
