SOUTH WINDSOR, CONN. Elizabeth "Betty" (May) Thibodeau, 83, of devoted wife of 50 years to the late Vernon C. Thibodeau, peacefully departed this life on Monday, Aug. 11, 2014 after spending the morning listening to some of her favorite music. Betty grew up in Manchester, Conn., the youngest daughter of John "Dusty" and Marie (Glenney) May. She lived in Manchester until her marriage when she then moved to South Windsor where she lived on Griffin Road for 53 years. Betty graduated from Manchester High School, and then worked at the former Veeder Root where she met her husband Vern. For many years she was a secretary at Standard Educators, a book distribution company in Manchester. She finished her working career for the State of Connecticut Department of Administrative Services. She enjoyed traveling with her husband to his Navy reunions each year around the country, where they reconnected with many shipmates and friends. In her later years, Betty enjoyed spending time at the South Windsor Senior Center, where she participated in daily activities, trips and recreation. She loved gardening, feeding the birds and critters that frequented her backyard. Betty had a charitable heart and was kind to friends, neighbors, and strangers alike. She was a devoted grandmother, and her grandchildren were the light of her life. She was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Manchester. She leaves behind her three children and their spouses; Joan Parks and her husband, Will of Broad Brook, Jim Thibodeau and his wife, Janet of North Bennington Vt., and Mark Thibodeau and his wife, Brenda of Ellington. In addition, she leaves her four beloved grandchildren, Emily Elizabeth Benson of Clermont, Fla., Jeffrey James Thibodeau and Jackson Edward Thibodeau of North Bennington Vt., and Michael Hugh Thibodeau of Ellington. She was the well-loved "Aunt Betty" to many nieces and nephews and their children. Betty also has several cousins in Conn. as well as in Ireland and Scotland. She was predeceased by her twin brothers, Jack and George May, and her dear sister, Marjorie Kelsey.
