1923-2013 BENNINGTON Mrs. Ella M. Caron, 89, a former resident of Pageant St. died Friday, September 27, 2013 at the Bennington Health and Rehabilitation Center in Bennington. She was born in Buskirk, New York December 6, 1923. She was the daughter of the late James and Catherine (James) Harrington. Ella graduated from Watervliet High School. Ella married Edward J. Caron on August 25, 1945 at Saint Francis de Sales Church in Bennington. Mr. Caron died February 1, 2009. In earlier years Mrs. Caron was employed at BenMont Paper in Bennington. For 20 years she was employed at the Union Carbide Corporation from which she retired. Following her retirement she went to work at Shmeltzer's in Bennington and after several years she retired. An avid reader, Ella enjoyed baking, cooking and birds, especially humming birds. Her home and family were her main interest. Survivors include her children, Sally McCoubrey and Michael of Erial, New Jersey, Tom Caron and Gail of Bennington, Linda Maynard and Fran of Bennington, Dan Caron and Peggy of White Creek, New York, Doug Caron and Jo-ann of Shaftsbury, Mollie McMahon and Dan of Petersburg, New York and Tammy Caron and Brian Pinger of Shushan, New York; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was pre-deceased by eight siblings, Carolyn Harrington, Helen Knapp, Roscoe Harrington, Howard Harrington, Robert Harrington, Julia Mears, Agnes Wood and Mary Lohnes. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held from the MAHAR and SON FUNERAL HOME on Tuesday October 1, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. with a prayer and then from Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Church at 11 a.m where the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be offered. The burial will follow in the family lot at the Gerald B. Soloman Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, New York. Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Monday , September 30 from 4 to 7 p.m. If friends desire contributions in memory of Mrs. Caron may be made to the Bennington Rescue Squad or Meals on Wheels through the office of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St., Bennington, VT 05201.
